Anti-Inflammatory Benefits

Traditional topical use of lantana has centred more strongly on skin, wounds and infections than on scientifically established hair growth. However, its activity against microorganisms and inflammation may explain why leaves have sometimes been incorporated into traditional cleansing and topical preparations.
For scalp care, the condition causing itching, scaling or irritation still needs to be understood. A plant preparation cannot treat every scalp condition simply because it has antimicrobial properties.

For this reason, lantana should not be treated as an ordinary edible herb simply because it has medicinal uses.
